Explore knife n°12

This version of the N°12 Explore is equipped with a tick remover housed in the handle of the knife, which allows ticks to be removed safely and effectively.

This new model incorporates the characteristics of the N°12 Explore:

- An efficient, short, robust blade in Sandvik 12C27M stainless steel

- A polymer handle reinforced with ice fiber: durable and comfortable

- A whistle with a power of 110dB, to signal or alert

- A cutting hook for game, easy to clean

- A tick remover: the effective and safe tool for removing ticks from animals and humans, essential to prevent Lyme disease.

It allows you to grasp the tick without compressing it and to remove it completely using a rotating movement.
The tick remover has two slots of different sizes which adapt to the tick.
Suitable for humans and animals, this plastic tick remover is very easy to maintain.

• Blade length: 10 cm
• Sandvik's modified 12C27 stainless steel developed for Opinel is renowned for its sharpness and ease of maintenance. Stainless steel capable of undergoing the heat treatment which gives it its good hardness is called martensitic. It has a carbon content of at least 0.40% which allows you to obtain a very satisfactory cutting edge without being sensitive to corrosion. Blade hardness 57-58 HRC.
• The handle is injected with polyamide loaded with fiberglass which guarantees great resistance to shocks, water, and extreme temperatures (-40°C to +80°C). A whistle is integrated into the heel of the handle, without a ball it works in all weather, with a power of 110 dB, it has a range of approximately 300 meters in an open area.
• Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all closing knives from No. 06 onwards. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc is made up of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety of use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safety of transport).
