The noble alloy of ebony and aluminum

The N°08 Ellipse knife was designed within our cabinetmaking workshop. The raw, matte ebony is enhanced by an aluminum sheet which highlights and illuminates the curve of the handle. This handle is oiled. To revive the intensity of the wood, it is advisable to nourish it with a clean cloth lightly soaked in cooking oil.

• Blade length: 8.5cm
• Stainless steel is an alloy steel. It is obtained by adding chromium, which significantly increases its resistance to corrosion. Stainless steel does not require any special maintenance.
• Ebony is a rare and luxurious wood, from the forests of Africa. Beautifully dense and deep black, ebony is traditionally used in artistic cabinetmaking and marquetry. The handle incorporates an aluminum sheet which highlights its curve. This handle is oiled to revive the intensity of the wood.
• Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all closing knives from No. 06 onwards. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc is made up of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety of use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safety of transport).
